Ark Preschool

Our dedicated teachers offer a caring Christian environment in which children can receive an excellent preschool education. Using a variety of themes, they have planned creative learning experiences that will help your child develop physically, emotionally, intellectually, socially, and spiritually.

Our Philosophy

Children are a blessing and a gift from God - Psalm 127:3

Realizing that the preschool years are crucially formative and impressionable years, our goal is to provide a warm, caring environment where each child will be accepted and affirmed as a unique individual, created in God's image, and encouraged to grow at his or her own rate.

Our aim is to facilitate the development of the whole child - physically, emotionally, intellectually, socially, and spiritually - through a balance of teacher and child directed activities.  Stories, art, dramatic play, music and movement help develop daily and weekly themes.

Our Classes - 2010/2011 School Year

*A new class for children turning three between 9/1 and 12/31
* Toilet training required for all classes except "nearly threes"
** Partial scholarships are available

Our Commitment

We offer admission to any child who turns three before September 1, and who is fully toilet trained. There is no discrimination on the basis or race, color, national, or ethnic origin. Though not completely handicapped accessible, we will make every effort to accommodate the needs of every child.  The Ark is a licensed non-denominational preschool which has been in operation since 1971.

Registration Process

You may pick up an application when you visit, we can mail one to you, or you can download an application here.

Registration for the 2010-2011 school year will begin January 4th.  Applications and registration fees can be turned in from January 4th – January 25th to The Ark Office. A random drawing will occur after January 25th. All church families, current and past Ark families’ forms will be processed first. Participants will be notified in writing of their placement. Final class assignments are made by the Director and staff. 

A visit to the preschool is suggested before enrolling your child. Visitors are welcome at any time, although special holiday times are discouraged. Please call The Ark Office to schedule a visit.

September tuition is due in June along with a one time supply fee of $35 and is required to confirm your child in the program.

Sponsored by the Glen Ellyn Covenant Church, the Ark is located in the education wing of the church at the corner of Kenilworth and Hawthorne streets in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.

From Wheaton - Go east on College Avenue, turn left on Kenilworth, and turn left into the church parking lot just before the stop sign at Hawthorne.

From downtown Glen Ellyn - Go west on Pennsylvania to Kenilworth, turn right, and turn left into the church parking lot just before the stop sign at Hawthorne.
