Children’s Ministries volunteer opportunities are open to Middle School students, High School students, and adults who have a desire to help children become growing followers of Christ. Contact Genevieve Garreau to learn more about any of these ministry teams.
Leadership
Children’s Ministry Vision Team
Children’s Ministry Vision Team Member
- Responsibilities: The Children’s Ministries Vision Team is made up of 4-6 people who are already serving as coordinators or leaders of a specific area in Children’s Ministries. Team members should be familiar with all aspects of Children’s Ministries in our church, nursery through 5th grade and have a desire to be involved in overall vision and direction. Team members will work closely with Director of Children’s Ministries and Leadership Team Representative. Team members should be willing to assist and participate in programs outside of their specific area as needed, model leadership characteristics, care for and support volunteers, and be proactive in incorporation of new children and families.
- Commitment: Quarterly meetings from 7:00-9:00pm.
Sunday Morning
Welcome Station Volunteer
- Responsibilities: Welcome children, families and volunteers as they arrive, provide directions to classrooms, assist new families with registration cards and procedures, answer questions about Children’s Ministries, provide printed information as needed, and assist volunteers with last minute supply needs.
- Commitment: Once a month rotation on Sunday morning.
Sunday School Teacher
- Responsibilities: Co-teach a children’s class of 10-15 children. Classes range from preschool – 5th grade. Curriculum and resources provided.
- Commitment: Sept-May, Sunday morning 10:30 – 11:30 am.
Jonathan’s Kids Shadows
- Responsibilities: Participate with a special needs child (preschool-teens) in his or her Sunday School classroom or Children’s Worship as a one-on-one aide.
- Commitment: Sunday morning 9:00 or 10:30 on a monthly rotation.
Jonathan’s Kids Sunday School Class
- Responsibilities: Co-teach a Sunday School Class for pre-teen and teenage children with special needs. Curriculum and resources provided
- Commitment: Sept-May, Sunday morning 10:30 – 11:30 am.
Sunday Singtime Leader (Kindergarten – 5th Grade)
- Responsibilities: Lead or co-lead a 15-minute time of music prior to Sunday School.
- Commitment: Sept-May, 10:30 – 10:45 am
Sunday Singtime Leader (Toddlers & Preschool)
- Responsibilities: Lead or co-lead a 15-minute time of music in preschool classrooms.
- Commitment: Sept.-May, Sunday morning 10:45 – 11:00am
Children’s Worship Leader
- Responsibilities: Participate as part of a team to develop a worship-focused curriculum for children and then co-lead Children’s Worship for Kindergarten-4th graders during second part of 9:00 service.
- Commitment: Sunday morning, (except 1st Sunday of the month) Rotation schedule is determined by leaders.
Children’s Worship Helpers
- Responsibilities: Assist Children’s Worship Leaders during second part of 9:00am service. No preparation necessary.
- Commitment: Sunday morning, Quarterly rotation.
Nursery & Preschool Coordinators
- Responsibilities: Oversee nursery and preschool rooms on Sunday morning, make sure rooms are clean, set up and have necessary supplies. Rotate through rooms on Sunday morning to make sure volunteers are present and things are running smoothly. Provide curriculum and supplies needed for preschool lessons. Meet with Director of Children’s Ministries to evaluate, plan and recruit volunteers.
- Commitment: Sunday morning 9:00 and 10:30am, once a month rotation.
Nursery Volunteer
- Responsibilities: Serve as part of a team to love and care for infants.
- Commitment: Sunday morning 9:00 or 10:30am, once a month rotation.
Preschool Volunteer
- Responsibilities: Serve as part of a team to love and care for toddlers and preschool children. Curriculum and supplies will be provided to tell a Bible story and lead related activities.
- Commitment: Sunday morning 9:00 or 10:30am, once a month rotation.
Kidzone Coordinator
- Responsibilities: Oversee children’s library, lead story time for preschoolers, organize volunteers, purchase and maintain materials.
- Commitment: Depends on volunteer availability.
Kidzone Volunteer
- Responsibilities: Assist in maintaining and staffing children’s library.
- Commitment: Depends on volunteer availability.
THE MIX – Tuesday Night Program for K-5th Graders
The Mix Leader
- Responsibilities: Co-lead Kindergarten-5th grade boys and girls in Bible lesson with group discussion, activities and games. Emphasis is on small group relationships with 6-8 children but interaction and leadership of large group is also involved. Curriculum and resources provided.
- Commitment: Sept-May, Tuesday night 7:00-8:15pm
Worship Leader
- Responsibilities: Lead 15 minute music and worship time for about 50 children Kindergarten-5th grade.
- Commitment: Sept-May, Tuesday night 7:00-8:15pm.
Storyteller
- Responsibilities: Deliver creative and enthusiastic presentation of Bible story using scripted curriculum for 50 children Kindergarten-5th grade
- Commitment: Sept-May, Tuesday night 7:00-8:15pm.
Audio-Visual Team
- Responsibilities: Run projection, sound, and lighting.
- Commitment: Create Power Point and video presentations as needed Sept.-May, Tuesday night 7:00-8:15pm.

Other Children's Ministries Opportunities
Jonathan’s Kids Team
- Responsibilities: Coordinate Jonathan’s Kids group for families with special needs children. Schedule monthly parent support group meetings and socials, recruit hosts for group meetings, maintain contact with families, recruit and schedule Sunday morning shadows, plan special events and set goals for the ministry.
- Commitment: Team meets once or twice a year as needed.
Camp Booster
- Responsibilities: Serve as a liaison between the church and our camps, Covenant Harbor and Covenant Point, Promote summer and year-round camp programs, coordinate camp team and fundraising for Every Kid a Camper Fund.
- Commitment: Flexible schedule as needed.
Camp Team
- Responsibilities: Work with camp booster and Director of Children’s Ministries to promote camping ministries in our church.
- Commitment: Flexible schedule as needed.
Resource Room Coordinator
- Responsibilities: Purchase and organize resources and supplies in Children’s Ministries Resource room.
- Commitment: Flexible schedule as needed.
Communications Volunteers
- Responsibilities: Assist Director of Children’s Ministries in writing articles or reviews for monthly Children’s Ministries newsletter. Copy, label and mail newsletter during last week of each month. Photograph children and special programs for newsletters, display, and publicity. Keep bulletin boards up to date with current information.
- Commitment: Flexible schedule as needed.
Special Programs Team
- Responsibilities: Help with preparations, purchasing supplies, making food, set up, or clean up for special ministry programs that occur throughout the year.
- Commitment: Flexible schedule as needed.
Mission Service Project Team
- Responsibilities: Work in conjunction with Missions Ministry Team and Director of Children’s Ministries to plan, coordinate, publicize, and carry out various mission and service projects for children, both local and worldwide. This will include Christmas project, VBS, and Missions Conference.
- Commitment: Flexible schedule as needed.
Prayer Team
- Responsibilities: Commit to regular prayer for children, families, and ministry volunteers. Meet with a group or on your own.
- Commitment: Flexible schedule, always needed
Decorating Team
- Responsibilities: Use your creativity and imagination to brighten up our children’s spaces with paint, banners, murals, etc.
- Commitment: Flexible schedule as needed
Volunteer Appreciation Team
- Responsibilities: Recognize our volunteers with special thank you notes, treats, gifts, or unexpected surprises. Help coordinate our end of the year Volunteer Bash.
- Commitment: Flexible schedule as needed
