Missions Ministry Team Member

  • Responsibilities: Work with a team of 6-10 people to provide leadership and direction for our congregation’s mission ministries. Anyone with a heart for mission ministries is invited to participate!
  • Commitment: Mission Ministry team meets one evening each month.

Missions Communication & Education Coordinator

  • Responsibilities: Coordinate the Mission Ministry Team’s efforts to build our congregation’s awareness of missions ministry opportunities and needs. Currently, this is accomplished primarily by providing missionary prayer notes in the weekly bulletin, publishing articles in the monthly Covenant Currents newsletter, and maintaining missionary display cases and missionary newsletter binder in Higher Grounds.
  • Commitment: Attend the monthly missions ministry team meetings, and provide weekly content for the bulletin and monthly content for Covenant Currents.

Covenant Conference & Denomination Mission Coordinator

  • Responsibilities: Keep the missions ministry team apprised of our denomination and conference missions activities and initiatives. Maintain liaison with conference and denomination personnel. Provide budget recommendations for the Covenant missions portion of the church’s annual budget.
  • Commitment: Attend the monthly missions ministry team meetings, and maintain correspondence with the Covenant Missions Committee as necessary.

Local Missions Coordinator

  • Responsibilities: Seek creative ways to get our congregation involved in local outreach ministries, maintain a catalog of local service opportunities for the congregation, coordinate our congregation’s involvement with local benevolent agencies, and provide budget recommendations for the local missions portion of the annual budget. Other creative ideas are welcome!
  • Commitment: Attend the monthly Missions Ministry Team meetings, and reaserach and provide local ministry input to the Missions Ministry Team as necessary.

International Missions Coordinator

  • Responsibilities: Build our congregation’s awareness and support of international missions by coordinating the L.I.F.E. group adopt-a-missionary program, organizing missionary visits/presentations to our church, and providing budget recommendations for the foreign missions portion of the annual budget.
  • Commitment: ttends the monthly Missions Ministry Team meetings to keep the team aware of prayer requests and changes in status of our missionaries.

Adult Short Term Missions Trip Coordinator

  • Responsibilities: Leadsa team of 4-6 people that creates opportunities for adults in the church to serve on short-term mission trips. Past trips have included a variety projects in Chicago, Tennessee, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, Alaska and elsewhere. Volunteers are needed to coordinate logistics, recruit participants, publicize, and lead the trips. This team also provides budget recommendations for the Adult Short Term Missions portion of the annual budget.
  • Commitment: Ministry team meets several times each year as needed. Past trips have ranged from a few days, to a few weeks, with several pre-trip preparation meetings. The Adult Short Term Missions Ministry Team Leader also attends the monthly Missions Ministry Team meetings.

Refugee Support Coordinator

  • Responsibilities: Coordinates our congregation's efforts to assist a local refugee family by providing initial furnishings and supplies, ESL tutoring, school assistance for the kids, help with transportation needs, financial guidance, and much more. If you have a heart for refugees, this team can use your help!
  • Commitment: Flexible, based on your availability. The Refugee Support Ministry Team Leader attends the monthly Missions Ministry Team meetings.

Mission Conference Ministry Team

Mission Conference Ministry Team Member

  • Responsibilities: Work with a team of fellow missions-minded people to organize our annual missions conference. The purpose of the conference is to create awareness and education the congregation (all ages) of specific mission-oriented topics.
  • Commitment: Meet monthly (approximately six months) to plan and organize event.  Event usually takes place around February/March.

Refugee Support Ministry Team Member

  • Responsibilities: Provides assistance to a local refugee family supported by our church. P.A.D.S. (Public Action to Deliver Shelter) Ministry Team

PADS Volunteer

  • Responsibilities: Volunteers help provide dinner, a warm bed, and breakfast for homeless families at a Glen Ellyn church. Volunteers are needed to:
    • Coordinate the evening and morning shift volunteers
    • Set up tables, chairs, and beds
    • Welcome clients and staff the welcome desk
    • Provide food for the evening meal
    • Provide food for sack lunches
    • Cook, serve, and clean up breakfast
    • Serve meals
    • Wash dishes
    • Clean up after clients leave
    • Make reminder calls to other volunteers
    • Drop off/pick up linens at Central DuPage Hospital
    • Lead or co-lead a Bible study for the clients
  • Commitment: 2-4 hours per month for most positions. During the school year, we currently serve the third Thursday night / Friday morning each month. The summer schedule varies.

Missionary Hosting Opportunities

Brown Bag Lunch Coordinator

  • Responsibilities: Coordinate a “Brown Bag Lunch” at church or an informal reception in your home to give a visiting missionary the opportunity to tell the congregation about their ministry. Set up tables, order carry-out lunches for attendees, provide publicity for the event.  These events are often hosted by a LIFE group.
  • Commitment: Flexible, based on your availability.

Missionary Visitor Host

  • Responsibilities: Host a visiting missionary or missionary family in your home for a few days while they visit our congregation. If you have the gift of hospitality and enjoy learning about God's work around the world, this is the opportunity for you!
  • Commitment: Flexible, based on your availability.

Other Local Ministry Opportunities
