Our Church
In 1946, as the population of Chicago expanded westward, eight families left the comfort of an established church in the city to see what God might do in suburban Glen Ellyn. A new church, now known as Glen Ellyn Evangelical Covenant Church, began that year.
Many things have changed over the past 60 years, but not the main things. God remains a constant and so does His mission for the church. So, not surprisingly, we are still being called to leave the comforts of an established church and see what God can do. New buildings, new people, new programs, and most of all, new life! Great things He has done and we expect no less as we move forward in faith and trust.
Glen Ellyn Covenant isn't simply a place we attend. We are a group of believes bound together as a family by a common faith in Jesus Christ. By Exalting God, Experiencing Life to its fullest, and intentionally Expanding God's Kingdom, we are pursuing God's purpose for our church.
This year our vision statement is: to be a church that is making disciples who walk in love. This statement is for everyone. It helps define who we are and who we are becoming through the work of the Holy Spirit. The goal in life is Christlikeness and the evidence of this transformation is love.
We hope that you'll find this church to be a place where you can encounter God and grow as His disciples. We hope that you'll be energized as you consider ways to serve Him. We hope that you'll be encouraged as you walk in love with other believers who are also following after Christ.
