A Special Need; a Special Offering

Many of you know and love Tarcisio Magurupira, a brother in Christ, member of our church, and our supported missionary in Zimbabwe.  We have so often rejoiced in the work God has done at the Theological College in Zimbabwe and through the children’s camps.  Pastors are being equipped, children are hearing of Jesus for the first time, and hearts are being changed.

Tarcisio has been battling a health challenge in recent months, including a serious infection, and now surgery is unavoidable.  Unfortunately the surgery he needs is not available in Zimbabwe; Tarcisio must travel to South Africa for the surgery.  His medical insurance is sorely lacking.  Tarcisio does not have sufficient financial resources.

The need is $10,000.  Will you please come along side Tarcisio and consider a donation to help offset medical expenses?  If you are so led, simply make your check out to Glen Ellyn Evangelical Covenant Church as you usually do, but also note “Emergency Medical Fund” in the memo line (and on the envelope if you use one).  If your give online, the dropdown menu now includes “Emergency Medical Fund for Tarcisio”.

Here is a link to the giving page  Give to Glen Ellyn Evangelical Covenant Church (breezechms.com)   And whether you are led to donate or not, please PRAY.  Our God is the Great Physician.  He holds Tarcisio and each of us in the palm of his hand.  Thank you for your consideration.

MISSIONS FOCUS

Project Update from Tarcisio
Last month we received a very impressive update from Tarcisio, our missions partner in Zimbabwe. He reported that: “… the church roof project ended up being a great testimony.”

He said the hailstorm that severely damaged the church roof led one of the church’s elders to enroll in the Evangelical Theological College of Zimbabwe’s one-year Bible College program to become a pastor.

His graduation with a certificate of pastoral ministry, along with the financial support that we provided via our Missions Special Opportunity Fund to repair the church’s severely damaged roof, and the additional support of The Evangelical Alliance Mission, inspired the building of a new sanctuary.

Tarcisio said the new center, which is nearing completion, was one of the places with the highest number of children in camp last August. He expressed his gratitude for our prayers and project support.

Tarcisio has an M.A. in Systematic Theology from Wheaton College and is an academic dean of the Evangelical Theological College of Zimbabwe. Read more about him and his ministry—Firm Foundation—here.
