IT’S GO TIME!

Those of you who have been around Glen Ellyn Evangelical Covenant Church for a while probably know that while the ministries of the church are rolling throughout the year, we actually give about 40% of our annual donations in the last three months of the year!
We need $400 thousand during the 4th Quarter to meet our operating expenses for the year.
If you believe that the Spirit has been moving powerfully in our church and you know that you have been blessed, please give.  The Lord is generous.  He calls us to be faithful.  It’s go time!

Dear Church,

The Kingdom of God is here. The Kingdom of God is on the move. The Kingdom of God is present and already at work on earth in the person of Jesus Christ.

Brothers and sisters, we are invited to join and participate in God's work among His people, here on earth and already in motion through His Son, our Savior, Jesus.

Are we up for the challenge? Are we excited about the invitation?

Join us on Sunday to learn more about Jesus and the work of the Kingdom of God.

See you in church!

OCTOBER BUDGET UPDATE

October Budget Scaries?
Planning for the church’s next calendar year budget begins in November. It is a well-known fact that a disproportionate share of our full-year’s giving is received in December, making the budget process very challenging. Through the end of September, our current income is $170,000 behind our year-to-date budget.

Trusting God
This week’s Men’s Bible Study group discussed passages in Luke 12 admonishing us not to worry. Heeding further the guidance in Philippians 4 to not be anxious about anything but to submit to prayer and petition, I look to God to guard my heart and mind from what I call the ‘October Budget Scaries’. I encourage each of you to be in prayer with me for the Lord to help us meet this year’s financial commitments and to guide our planning for 2026.

We are so excited to welcome her once again to GE Covenant! Even if you couldn’t make her first session, please join us for her 2nd in the series on “Drawing Near to God Through Spiritual Writing”.

Please bring a notebook and pen along with your homework from the first session.

SUNDAY SERMON: Jesus Heals Ten Men With Leprosy

Making His way to Jerusalem, Jesus passes through a village, set on the border between Samaria and Galilee. There He meets ten lepers who cry out to Him for mercy. Jesus heals them without hesitation.

Hallelujah! They are healed of body! No longer is their skin discolored and their muscles weak. No longer must they live in humiliation, isolation, and distance. They are able to rejoin worship and their families and society and enjoy the full fruits of community living. A healing miracle! We say: Hallelujah, once again!

So, if their lives have truly been changed so dramatically and for the better, why then does only one return to offer gratitude to Jesus - to praise and honor God with his face pressed humbly down in the dirt?

Join us this Sunday as we discover more about grateful living and the love and mercy of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

See you in church!

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL
“DRAWING NEAR TO GOD
THROUGH SPIRITUAL WRITING”

Professor Nicole Mazzerella
OCTOBER 12 & 26

This week we are pleased to welcome Nicole Mazzarella,
Professor at Wheaton College
to lead the 2nd in our series “Drawing Near to God”.

Nicole has taught creative writing at Wheaton College for the past 23 years. One of her joys is helping writers of all genres make writing a regular part of their lives. Nicole has published and produced flash fiction, short stories, and a screenplay. Her first novel This Heavy Silence won the Christy Award and Christianity Today’s novel of the year.

As part of her ministry at Church of the Resurrection, Nicole has led small groups through the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises. In addition she has spoken at colleges, churches, and conferences about spiritual practices for artists. She has a forthcoming contribution to The Way of Dante on a spiritual practice for artists inspired by Mary’s role in Purgatorio.

She is married to a local therapist and the mother of a college student and two high schoolers, who all attended the Ark Preschool.
We hope you can join us for this special Sunday school!
Please bring a notebook and pen as you’ll be doing some writing exercises!

We already have 43% of the volunteer slots committed (PRAISE THE LORD!).

Our hope is that our entire church family will be part of this amazing opportunity to bring people into our church to experience our warmth and energy in service to give hope through food to children. Please be in prayer for this event. Let’s fill all of the available slots for hospitality and hosting activities
and invite friends to come pack with us.

FEED MY STARVING CHILDREN
*MEAL-PACKING EVENT*
NOVEMBER 21 AND 22
AT GLEN ELLYN EVANGELICAL COVENANT CHURCH

Every year, millions of children die from preventable causes such as pneumonia, diarrhea, malaria and undernutrition. Hunger is still causing nearly half of deaths in children under 5 years old. This is heartbreaking.

Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) believes hope starts with food. As a Christian nonprofit, FMSC is dedicated to seeing every child whole in body and spirit.

FMSC’s process is simple. Donations given by people just like us fund the meal ingredients. Volunteers, just like us, hand-pack the meals. Meals are donated to FMSC food partners around the world, where kids are fed and lives are saved!

Like to be involved? Click here for more info and to register https://www.fmsc.org/volunteer-listing/?mobilepack=2511-189SC

Childcare will be provided for the Saturday 9am packing session. Please contact Elissa Schauer so that she can be efficient in arranging childcare.
