GOD’S WORK IN AND THROUGH OUR CHURCH FAMILY
A NOTE FROM THE CARE TEAM
We are so thankful for the many hands that support the CARE Ministry at Glen Ellyn Covenant Church! As a team, we have the privilege of coming alongside members of our church community during times of need. So far this year, we have delivered more than 63 meals to families recovering from illness or surgery, battling cancer, and celebrating the arrival of new babies! It is a joy for our team and fellow church members to share Christ’s love and CARE through the gift of a meal.
This summer, we were also able to add several new items to the church kitchen through memorial funds given in honor of our dear friend and former CARE team member, Joanne Sandstorm. Joanne was such a joy to serve alongside, and it was a blessing to honor her in this special way! Her generous memorial gift allowed us to update our silverware, serving pieces, coffee carafes, water pitchers, knives, and other kitchen essentials. These improvements help our kitchen run smoothly and allow us to continue creating a welcoming environment as we serve others.
In 2026, we also had the privilege of hosting a memorial service for Dan Bloomquist. His family expressed heartfelt appreciation for the care and love shown to them during this difficult time.
Thank you to the many prayer warriors who faithfully cover our church and community in prayer. We are also so grateful to everyone who volunteers their time and talents to prepare and deliver meals, bake desserts, wash dishes, and serve others through the CARE Ministry at Glen Ellyn Covenant Church. Your generosity and willingness to serve make this ministry possible, and we are deeply thankful for each of you!
SHARE YOUR STORY OF GOD’S FAITHFULNESS
THROUGH GE COVENANT CHURCH
2026 marks our church’s 80th anniversary! As part of our ongoing praise and celebration of what God has done and is doing through the ministries of our church, we are asking for folks to share stories of God’s faithfulness through the Glen Ellyn Evangelical Covenant Church. Do you have a story you would share with our congregation? The prompt is “Because of (A) at GEECC, God brought about (B).”
For a brief example: God led Korey Gregornik to volunteer at GEECC while he was a student at Wheaton College back in 2013. After Korey graduated from Wheaton, he went to work at Honeyrock Camp, where Joseph Sawyer was doing a gap-year program. That was how Joseph originally got connected to GEECC. Because God led Korey Gregornik to volunteer at GEECC while he was a student at Wheaton College back in 2013, Joseph Sawyer is now our Director of Student Ministries! Isn’t God amazing?!
I bet our church is FULL of these stories of God’s faithfulness, and we want to hear them! There are a few ways you can share YOUR story of God’s faithfulness:
You can submit a story in writing that we can share via the newsletter.
You can read your story on a Sunday morning.
You can also video yourself telling your story and we will show it either on our Youtube channel or on a Sunday Morning!
Celebrate God’s faithfulness by telling your story! If you need help with sharing your story, please contact Carol in the office and we will help you choose how to share! We can’t wait to hear from you!

FRIENDSGIVING
MONDAY NOVEMBER 9
6:30-8:30
As the days grow shorter and the Thanksgiving season approaches, you're invited to a special evening of friendship, gratitude, and community at Friendsgiving! On Monday, November 9 from 6:30-8:30 pm, we'll share delicious treats, warm beverages, a fun and creative activity (no artistic skills required!), and the opportunity to relax, connect, and enjoy one another's company.
This year, we're also partnering with Outreach Ministries' Christmas Store, a program that helps families in our community shop for Christmas gifts for their children with dignity and care. If you'd like, you can participate by purchasing an item from one of Outreach's gift wish lists (Amazon, Walmart, or Target) and have it shipped directly to Outreach.
Whether you come for the fellowship, the treats, the creativity, or the opportunity to give, we'd be delighted to have you join us.

GEECC JUSTICE BOOK CLUB
A CHRISTIAN RESPONSE TO ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
THURSDAYS
7:30 to 8:30 on Zoom
Join us! We welcome new members! In October we are reading Pope Leo’s Encyclical on understanding humanity and artificial intelligence from a Biblical perspective of avoiding a “Tower of Babel” mentality and instead following the model of Nehemiah and his community building the wall of Jerusalem together. One special quote: “Technology in and of itself is not a solution to humanity’s problems, just as it is not inherently evil. In practice, however, technology is never neutral, because it takes on the characteristics of those who devise, finance, regulate and use it.”
Contact Mary Crickmore or the church office if you’d like to participate.
CAN FOR CHANGE
COVENANT WORLD RELIEF & DEVELOPMENT
Pick up your supplies in Higher Grounds to make your own “Can for Change”
or if you are short on change, click this link to participate online: https://gecovenant.breezechms.com/give/online
then go to the dropdown menu for “Give General and Missions”
and choose: “Covenant World Relief and Development.”
A Rocha & Churches of Restoration
A Rocha is an organization of Christians doing care of God’s Creation. You may not have heard of them, but there are already some connections with our church. Mary and Scott Crickmore have visited A Rocha’s sea turtle rescue site in Kenya and their rare bird habitat protection in France. Bradley Lauber has done an internship with A Rocha. Covenant Pastor Dave Swanson is on their board.
This year a core group of Emily Lee, Bradley Lauber, Darren Miller and Mary Crickmore will support our church to participate in A Rocha’s Churches of Restoration program to do creation-care-oriented projects. One component will be to focus on Creation Care during adult Sunday School over several Sundays in November. For other practical projects we have many options and are looking for input with your ideas. Some things we could consider are: having a group from our church participate with the Park District or Forest Preserve District in clean-up days; replanting butterfly milkweed that was removed in the parking lot renovation to a new location to help Monarch butterflies; reviewing what could help good management of our community garden plots; helping church members with native plant landscaping in their own yards; these are just a few on the list of possibilities.
We’ll have opportunity for discussion during Adult Sunday School but also want to include the youth group and children’s ministry, because learning about God through his wonderful Creation and caring for it helps people of all ages be close to God. If you have comments and ideas, talk to Emily, Bradley, Darren or Mary, we want to hear from you!
